REPORT OF ACTIVITIES DURING 21 SEPTEMBER 2014 – 20 OCTOBER 2014


[A] Programmes in commemoration of Swamiji’s 150th Birth Anniversary

  1. Two public meetings were organised at Swamiji’s Ancestral House on 10 and 16 October 2014 in commemoration of Swamiji’s 150th Birth Anniversary. In total 1400 people attended this programme.

  2. In collaboration with our centre, two public meetings were organised at different places in Kolkata on 22 and 30 September 2014. Altogether 650 people attended the programmes.

  3. Three public meetings were addressed by the Secretary as only speakers, which were organised at Kumarghat and Dr. Ambedkar College, Fatikroy, Tripura, on 23 and 24 (2 nos) September 2014 in commemoration of Swamiji’s 150th Birth Anniversary. Altogether 2100 people comprising teachers, scholars, students, and general devotees attended these programmes.

[B] General

  1. As the representative of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, the Secretary participated in a conference entitled ‘A meeting of diverse spiritual traditions in India’ hosted by his Holiness the Dalai Lama in New Delhi on 20 and 21 September 2014. He also took part in Group Discussions and spoke on ‘Fostering inter-religious harmony and understanding’, ‘Addressing the gap between rich and poor’, ‘Promoting the role of women and empowering them’, and ‘Reassessing old customs and rituals, which exists just because of their antiquity but being no longer relevant’ on the lines of Swamiji’s approach. 103 delegates from 23 states of India and 47 distinguished persons including his Holiness the Dalai Lama, Dr. Nazib Zung, Lt Governor of Delhi, and Sri Gopal Krishna Gandhi, former Governor of West Bengal, participated in the conference, as Inaugurator, Chief Guest and Resource Person respectively.
