Swami Vivekananda’s 153rd Birthday and the National Youth day was celebrated by our centre in befitting manner at Swamiji’s Ancestral House in this year.

  • On 12 January as in the previous year an impressive rally and a grand procession comprising students, teachers, devotees, distinguished guests and monks of the centre was conducted from this centre. It was flagged off by Smt Shashi Panja, Minister of Department of Women and Child Welfare, Govt. of West Bengal and Smt Nayana Bandyopadhyay, MLA, West Bengal Assembly. More than 7,000 people took part in the procession. In addition to this a number of processions organised by different organisations and educational institutions in different areas of Kolkata mingled at Swamiji’s Statue to pay their homage. Nearly 4,000 participants participated in these rallies.
    Around 60,000 visitors thronged Swamiji’s House throughout the day to offer their homage to Swamiji on his birthday.
  • On 15 January there was a public meeting in the evening at the Ramakrishna Mancha of this centre. In total 75o people attended the meeting.In wake of cold wave our centre distributed 35 woollen sweaters among the poor and needy students of the locality and 22 woollen sweaters among the small school going children of the street dwellers in December 2014.

    We are glad to inform you that our centre has been awarded with the Amiya Nath Sadhu Memorial Challenge Trophy by the ‘Association of Voluntary Blood Donors’, West Bengal, in their Annual Convocation on 20 January 2015 for mobilizing maximum number of voluntary blood donors in the category of Social Welfare Organisation during April 2013 to March 2014.
